Insurance Companies
ZWS performs mold testing and consulting services throughout the Midwest. After an initial assessment is performed, ZWS will prepare a scope-of-work for the mold remediation project. Our scope-of-work reports includes the following information:
Water Loss Assessments
ZWS provides a third party consulting service for insurance companies that insure buildings that have suffered water damaged. ZWS does not perform the structural drying itself; instead, our professionals ensure that the building is dried correctly and in a timely manner. Prompt drying is essential for preventing structural damage and mold growth. When ZWS is on the project, you have a leading professional with your best interests in mind. ZWS provides third party verification at a fraction of the structural drying cost by using time saving technology (such as thermal imaging cameras) to locate areas of elevated moisture.
Thermal Imaging Cameras are extremely beneficial on large water losses (i.e. hotels, condominiums, office buildings, etc), because rooms can be quickly scanned to determine affected and non-affected areas. In less than five minutes, a TIC can scan a room’s walls, ceiling, and floors. To monitor the same room with only moisture meters can take ten times as long, and affected areas can be easily missed.
Drying the building in an efficient manner reduces the potential for mold growth.

Mold Assessments
ZWS performs mold testing and consulting services throughout the Midwest . When an initial assessment is performed, ZWS will prepare a scope-of-work for the mold remediation that includes digital picture and thermal imaging pictures. Our scope-of-work includes the following information:
- Location of building materials that contain elevated moisture
- Relative humidity reading throughout the building
- Laboratory results of mold sampling (if performed)
- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) needed
- Placement of containment and Air Filtration Devices (AFD)
- Structural remediation needed
- Content remediation needed
- HVAC remediation
After the mold remediation is complete, ZWS returns to the property to perform post-remediation testing. If testing shows acceptable levels of mold spores in the areas tested, a ‘ Clearance Notification’ will be granted for the property.
In order to achieve clearance, indoor air samples must be statistically similar to an outside reference. If an outside reference cannot be taken (i.e. snow cover, rain, frost, etc) an ‘area of non-concern’ or EMLAB’s Extended Outdoor Comparison will be used. Clearance Notification is only valid at the time of assessment, because mold is naturally occurring.
